HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY FIRST VISIT?
After you schedule an appointment you will get an e-mail from me with a link to a secure client portal. Please fill out all of the paperwork. All paperwork must be complete and signed before I can meet with you.Â
Next think about what you are hoping to achieve through therapy, it may be helpful to write it down. Think of any questions you may have for me.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT WHEN I BRING MY CHILD TO THERAPY?
Children often communicate best through play. I incorporate play therapy, by using games, toys and art to build rapport and allow the child to express their feelings. I ask that parents participate, sometimes that means just being present during the session, and sometimes that means participating in play.
WHAT TYPEÂ OF THERAPY DO YOU USE?
I use various therapeutic modalities, and tailor my approach to fit each client. Common modalities I use are:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Strengths Based Therapy
Family Systems
Play Therapy
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I COME TO THERAPY?
I like to leave this up to the client. Most clients start by coming once a week, we can space out appointments as much or as little as you'd like.
HOW LONG IS EACH THERAPY SESSION?
In my practice, the standard therapy session time is about 55 minutes. I schedule my clients on the hour and do my best to run on time.
DO YOU OFFER VIRTUAL APPOINTMENTS?
Yes! I offer telehealth appointments to Utah residents through a secure, HIPPA compliant platform called Simple Practice.
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
If you need to cancel an appointment please contact me at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment time. There will be a $65 charge if the appointment is missed or canceled with less than 24 hours notice.
DO YOU PROVIDE MEDICATION SERVICES?
I do not, I am not licensed to prescribe medication. However, I would be happy to refer you to trusted colleagues who specialize in medication management.
DO YOU ACCEPT MY INSURANCE?
I am paneled with most major insurance companies. Please see the insurance and fees section of my website.
IS THERAPY CONFIDENTIAL?
Yes! Therapy is completely confidential, with some exceptions to ensure safety.
Exceptions include:
Suspected abuse
Threats of harm to self or others
If a client expresses intent to harm themself, we will work together to create a safety plan. If the client is unwilling to create and follow a safety plan or if I believe there is immediate danger additional measures may be required.
